When should I arrive for my appointment?
- Outpatient visits: Arrive 15 to 30 minutes early to allow time for registration.
- Inpatient procedures: Arrive at the exact time provided by admitting staff or your physician’s office.

Pain Management Guidance
What should be done if pain level increases above 5?
If your pain level increases above 5, it’s important to seek medical attention. Contact your doctor to discuss your symptoms and treatment options.
If the pain is severe and unbearable, call 911 immediately for urgent care.
What if I’m experiencing pain at a level of 4?
If you’re experiencing pain at a level of 4, consider the following options:
- Over-the-counter medications: Non-prescription pain relievers such as ibuprofen or acetaminophen may help.
- Physical therapy: Targeted exercises may alleviate pain.
- Heat or cold therapy: Heat pads or ice packs can provide relief.

Emergencies
What should be done in a medical emergency?
In a medical emergency:

Will I be contacted for appointment reminders?
Arguello Healthcare will attempt to contact you when services are scheduled to verify demographic and insurance information in advance. This pre-registration process can reduce registration wait times and help avoid potential billing issues.
Discharge Planning & Going Home
Is there a schedule or a plan to get me home to recuperate?
The coordination department will help develop a personalized discharge plan based on your next level of care. Your plan may include:
- In-home care
- Short-term rehabilitation
- Assisted living
- Long-term nursing care
We also provide transitional nurse navigators to help support complex medical and social needs that may arise after you leave the hospital.
